Background

Born and raised just outside of Toronto, Canada, Chris is extremely happy to have found a new home in New York City among his inspiring colleagues at Development Counsellors International.

With an undergraduate degree in English and a post-graduate education in public relations, Chris is well-suited to his position marketing places on DCI's economic development team. He has several years of public relations' experience, both with non-profits and consumer agencies. His prior clients include Coca-Cola, Nike, the NFL, KitchenAid and Dove, working for Toronto-based agencies APEX PR and Harbinger Communications.  

Chris's Passion for Places

Chris has always been enamored by other cultures. In addition to living in the United Kingdom for some time, Chris has traveled extensively, spending eight months in Europe and Africa as well as several months in Latin America. It was intimate travel experiences such as these that would later guide Chris to choosing a career in place marketing and economic development at DCI. 

Notable Results

• Chris secured coverage on the Reuters news wire for Houston’s green building initiatives. This coverage helped garner awareness for Houston’s competitive green building market.

• On behalf of National Grid, Chris secured interviews with Bloomberg media, establishing the utility's executives as spokespeople for regional economic development issues.

• Chris organized interviews with major technology and biotechnology trade publications for an array of clients. Chris' strong relationships with a variety of trade publications focused on these industries have led to several face-to-face interviews between clients and journalists at trade shows, such as BIO 2007 and Semicon West 2007.

• As part of media relations campaigns for his former clients, such as Nike, Coca Cola and Dove, Chris garnered editorial coverage in all major Canadian media outlets, including the Globe and Mail, MacLean’s and CBC Television.
