Background

Kara grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in travel and tourism management with a concentration in event planning. She interned at the Providence/Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau, Collette Vacations, the Providence State House and T.F. Green Airport in Rhode Island. Before her graduation ceremony in May 2007, she "pounded the pavement," looking for a job and discovered Development Counsellors International. She tried on the company, and it was a perfect fit.

Kara's Passion for Places

In the summer of 2000, at the age of 15, Kara caught the “traveling bug” when she left the country to visit China for the first time. Her two weeks spent in Asia were a premonition for what was to come. Since then, Kara has traveled up and down the East Coast, has gone island hopping in the Caribbean, and studied abroad in Australia and New Zealand. Kara thrives on different cultures and new experiences.

Notable Results

• In her first role at DCI, Kara successfully developed "The Voice of DCI" as the company's ambassador of first impressions. Her pleasant personality, courteous demeanor and smiling face were always a welcome surprise to clients and guests visiting the company.

• Not only did Kara "meet and greet" the clients of DCI, but she also assisted the staff members with projects and acted as a "right-hand woman" on numerous occasions.

• After her four-month stint as ambassador of first impressions, Kara was promoted to account coordinator, thanks to her positive attitude, skills and friendly personality. Kara now works on proposals, mailings, and many other print media projects that will benefit DCI’s account executives and help maintain and improve the company’s client relations.
