AT WORK AT PLAY

Background

Lynn’s been on both sides of the economic development table: currently as a Development Counsellors International vice president and previously as associate director of Greater Philadelphia First, a CEO-led organization, doing economic development and marketing. Previously, Lynn was a reporter and editor for weekly and daily newspapers and taught journalism at Penn State’s Delaware County campus. She was the first woman tenured in the history of Penn State’s School of Journalism.

Lynn serves on the boards for the International Economic Development Council and the Arden Theatre. She also is a member of the Forum of Executive Women.

Lynn's Passion for Places

Lynn loves her 'hood. Old City in Philadelphia has 40 art galleries in four square blocks, great restaurants, several theaters, a fun First Friday, and fireworks on New Year’s Eve and July 4th on the Delaware River adjacent to her home.

As a leader of the Old City District, a business improvement group, Lynn completed a $6 million streetscape project; raised $160,000 to maintain the improvements; and leveraged more than $20 million in additional private and public investment.

Her fervor for Old City easily translates into the work she does at DCI, inspiring her to find unique ways of promoting and supporting places just like her ‘hood.

Notable Results

• On behalf of Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, Lynn placed a feature article on the front business page of The New York Times, highlighting this region's turnaround from its dependence on the steel industry to its newly diversified economy.

• Lynn placed feature stories on National Public Radio for two separate clients. On behalf of Corpus Christi, Texas, she worked with a reporter at NPR's "Marketplace" for a feature piece about the diversity of international cargo through the area's ports. The radio spot captured the port's quintessential sounds, from fog horns to a raspy-throated tugboat captain. On behalf of Michigan, Lynn arranged a segment on NPR about the state's "boot camp" training program for economic developers.

• Lynn has also worked frequently with CNBC on behalf of her clients. When Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell announced his state's first coal-to-diesel plant and assembled a consortium to buy its product for 10 years, CNBC interviewed him on "Power Lunch." And when Puerto Rico’s governor wanted the world to know manufacturing contributes more heavily to the island's GDP than does tourism, Lynn arranged for him to tell this story on two CNBC shows: "Squawk Box" and "Worldwide Exchange."
